We Made It!

After months of praying, planning, prepping (including our house for Arick and Angie to move into), and preparing we've arrived in Samara, Costa Rica. What started out as a dream to spend an indefinite period of time in a foreign country studying a new language, experiencing a different culture, and bonding as a family this adventure has finally arrived.

The planning, preparing, and prepping for this trip will likely be a separate post unto itself, but we arrived in Samara on Sunday, September 14th with a SEA --> LAX (red eye) --> LIR (via a refueling stop in San Jose due to circling the Liberia airport for 45 minutes due to fog). While he's likely to never read this post, we'd like to give a shout out to Richard the Alaska Airlines baggage attendant at SeaTac. He was incredibly helpful in getting our eight suitcases at weighing in right at (or slightly above) the 50-pound limit checked-in without any hassles.

The only real pain point of the whole trip down to Samara happened at the Liberia airport where yours truly fell for the classic "let me help you with your bags" only to find out this gentleman was not working with our driver after I had tipped him... I'm blaming sleep deprivation on this blunder as we were strictly schooled not let this happen on our trip in April with Adventure Soccer to Eswatini. After a beautiful drive through the Costa Rican countryside, we've made it and are excited for this adventure to begin.
