We had the amazing experience of hosting guests for the first time while in Costa Rica these past couple of weeks. Corey’s parents (Grandpa and Grandma) visited us for 10 days! We had a wonderful visit and we sure packed some fun things in.
While allowing grandpa and grandma to acclimate a little to the wonderful Costa Rican weather (clocking in the mid-80’s with humidity hovering around 80% most of the time) we spent the first couple of days just visiting and catching up close to our home. For our first big adventure we decided to head out on a 3 hr horse ride to a beach we had been wanting to visit (Barrigona white sand beach). You will hear more about that from Maddie. To say the least, it was quite an adventure with rivers and gallops and an emergency ATV ride!

Another fun activity that we did during this special visit was to host an American Thanksgiving! This was especially special for us as we had family in town❤️. Grandpa and Grandma brought down a few needed grocery items and we invited some local friends to join us. Hannah will be posting more about that soon!
Finally, as Corey had to leave town for business at the same time that we had to move houses, it was super helpful to have family help for all these transitions. When we originally booked our Sámara house, there was a 2 week gap at the end of November which required us to make housing plans elsewhere. So for 4 nights we stayed in what ended up being a very rustic home right on the beach.

This home was very much a Cost Rican beach cabin, bugs and all! We even got to use bug nets for the first time ever in our lives!

This was a very special and adventurous home, it had no glass windows, only slatted wooden window coverings and it was a totally open (to the outside) concept living. The kitchen was an adventure to cook in, with the electric stove shocking you if you weren’t wearing rubber soled shoes😳. As fun and beautiful as the location was, we were bug bitten and sleep deprived and ready for a change. So after saying goodbye to Grandpa and Grandma, we headed north to start our 10 days of Baldwin traveling adventures. But those are some posts still to come!!
